2000-7 July AUSTRALIA Under Siege National Geographic Map Poster School
Despite being quiet geologically, Australia is biological very diverse; classified as one of the world's 17 mega-diversity countries. This diversity is being threatened, largely due to Europeans who began arriving in the 18th century. transforming an alien landscape to be like Europe. They upset the equilibrium, and the consequences still reverberate today. The map-side is a classic National Geographic cartographic political map of Australia with map insets of Perth, Tasmania, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Canberra. The reverse-side displays the physical environment of Australia, 200 years ago and today, with a timeline of historical events and population growth. There are additional map insets showing the loss of forests, feral infestations, fire hazards, overgrazing, and mining.
Map is approximately 20” x 32”.
The National Geographic is known for it's fine maps & detailed information.
Supplement to the National Geographic Magazine; magazine is not included.
